GREAT Theatre’s planned first musical, Grease, previously announced to open our 10/11 Broadway season, will be replaced with the explosive movie musical Footloose, live onstage at the Paramount Theatre. We lost the rights to perform Grease as they have decided to release the original movie in theaters across the country in a new sing-a-long version. Changing a title in our Broadway Musical Season has never happened before and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Personally I am ecstatic to bring the Broadway Musical Footloose to the Paramount Stage for the first time ever! This family appropriate musical celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people, guiding them with a warm heart and an open mind. This Oscar and tony-nominated score sold over 15 million copies featuring the famous Kevin Bacon in the movie version.
Footloose The Musical explodes onto the stage with classic 80s anthems guaranteed to get you to your feet, including Holding Out For A Hero, Almost Paradise, Let’s Hear It For The Boy and of course the unforgettable hit title track Footloose! Life in small-town Bomont is peaceful until city boy, Ren, arrives. Breaking every taboo, Ren brings dance back to the heart of a town held back by the memory of a tragedy. Based on the hit 80’s movie (which launched the careers of Kevin Bacon, Sarah Jessica Parker and Jon Lithgow) Footloose has become a stage musical phenomenon.
Now that we have the opening show re-worked we can move forward on staffing and audition dates for 10/11. Watch for updates!!!
