Girl Power!

Girl Power!

When talking to the cast about the show they agreed that Pippi is all about girl power. Pippi is perhaps a little too rambunctious, but is still a great role model for young girls. She is independent and stands up for what she believes in. And she definitely doesn’t let anyone tell her what to do or push her around.
Some of the 25 young women in the cast of Pippi were kind enough to talk a little bit about what girl power means to them. Kayley, who plays Pippi in the production, starts us off…

What does girl power mean to you?

Girl power to me means you’re strong in your decisions and what you believe in. You don’t let boys or anyone else intimidate you. And you have your friend’s backs! Girls kick butt!
Kayley Isaacson, 7th grade, Sartell Middle

It means girls have the power to do anything if they try really hard. It means we’re the best!
Courtney Donnelly, 5th grade, Oak Hill Elementary

It means to be yourself and to believe in yourself! To never let people put you down.
Emily Baxa, 7th grade, Sartell Middle School

That I can be someone special. I have the power within me to do or accomplish anything I set my mind to. That’s what girl power means to me.
Maddie Janssen, 4th grade, Clearview Elementary

Girls standing up for themselves and others. You can do anything if you try! If you believe in yourself you are bound to win!
Isabel Erickson, 5th grade, Oak Hill Elementary

Girl power means girls being respected. A girl can do anything a guy can do, so girls should get equal respect as guys. Girl power is also all about achieving dreams and being true to yourself.
Tia Arnzen, 8th grade, South Jr. High

It means that I am just as good as anyone else, because I am me.
Alyssa Franzmeier, 7th grade, Sartell Middle

It means achieving dreams and not letting anything come in the way. Being yourself and caring for yourself.
Nikki Pederson, 8th grade, Holdingford Middle

Girl Power is standing up for yourself and trying your hardest
Cara Ogilvy, 6th grade, Sartell Middle

I think it means GIRLS RULE!
Alexis Handley, 3rd grade, Clearview Elementary

Girl power means being awesome. Girls have to have respect. That’s right, show some respect.
Maia Trombley, 6th grade, Sartell Middle

I think girls are more in control than boys.
Anna Ellis, 5th grade, Sartell Middle

Girls are the best. Girls are the smartest. Girls are organized. Girls are the best.
Alexia Angels, 3rd grade, Madison Elementary

It means I am as good as a boy.
Alice Colatrella, 2nd grade, Oak Ridge Elementary

I think girl power is when you get respect from everyone. Also, when you can do anything.
Anna Schmitz, 6th grade, Sartell Middle

What girl power means to me is that we can be very flexible, strong and courageous.
Jessica Weber, 5th grade, Madison Elementary

Girls are more in control than boys. I think of Pippi being able to beat up all the boys in the play.
Maddie Prom, 8th grade, SPPM

Girl power is absolutely awesome! If there was no girl power on this earth it would be very boring with the regular dude talk. Girl power is the little spirit each girl has in her even if they think they are the average “tomboy.”
Emma Roggeman, 5th grade, Oak Hill Elementary

Girls will stand up for what they believe in! Girls rule!
Emma Marek, 5th grade, Oak Hill Elementary
