Ted Brown plays Senex in “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.” Senex is a Roman senator who is not in control of his own house. With his shrewish wife gone to visit her mother Senex is free to do what he pleases…with hilarious results.
Ted was last seen as The Wizard in The Wizard of Oz in 2007. Ted is also a director for GREAT having directed many shows including; Little Shop of Horrors, Annie (’07), The Music Man, Seussical (’04), HSM2 and one of the last outdoor shows, Once Upon a Mattress.
What is the best part about playing Senex? Ted: I play a “dirty old man” so it’s pretty much type casting. I get to carry Hillary’s ‘bust’ with pride! Rehearsals are the best part of my day - it’s a non-stop laugh fest.
What will the audience love about this show? Ted: The direction. Chris comes up with the funniest things. He also takes suggestions from the cast (which is filled with ‘directors’) and puts his own twist on them to make it work for this show. I think the audience will appreciate the smoothness and the humor.
Trivia: Senex is latin for old man. There are two Senex stock characters in theatre…senex amans which is the old man who is in love with a much younger woman. And senex iratus which is the old man who irrationally opposes the love of two young lovers.

Ted, as Senex, tells us that everybody ought to have a maid!
