The two casts rehearse the same scene. Above Anna Rooney plays Peter Pan with Megan Johnson playing Wendy. Below Sophie VanSurksum plays Peter Pan with Brenna Vachal as Wendy.

Peter Pan has two completely different casts of 30. We’ve had two weeks of rehearsals while getting to try out double casting for the first time. Hear what Sophie VanSurksum and Anna Rooney have to say about the double cast rehearsal process. Both play Peter Pan in the production.
How is double casting going so far?
Sophie: Great, very fun!
Anna: Great! (No pun intended)
What do you think will be the biggest challenges with double casting?
Sophie: When there is double casting we don’t get as much play practice time because there is only one character but two casts.
Anna: One challenge I was anticipating was only having half the rehearsal time. Once we got started it was completely different than what I expected. Though we take turns running each scene, we are always involved in the process, adding our input and ideas. It ended up that two heads ARE better than one!
What are the biggest advantages with double casting?
Sophie: Double casting has been going great, the reason I like it is that you can watch your character and get new things to try. And with double casting there is more people so more talent.
Anna: There is twice as much talent and twice as much fun in every show!
What are you most excited for in this production?
Sophie: I am definitely excited for the flying. People will really enjoy it and it is very fun for us too.
Anna: Definitely flying! Sophie and I already have lots of exciting ideas that we want to try on the fly system.
