BE PART OF THE STORY
Eurydice offers a poetic and visually stunning take on the classic myth, told from Eurydice’s perspective. This dreamlike play blends lyrical language, movement, and inventive storytelling to explore love, loss, and memory. With rich character work and a uniquely theatrical world, it’s a great opportunity for actors drawn to imaginative and emotional storytelling.

Movement:
- Please come prepared in clothes you feel comfortable moving in.

Character List & Descriptions:
Eurydice – A young woman. In love with Orpheus. Mourning her father. Bookish, with a mind full of interesting notions.
Orpheus – A young man. In love with Eurydice. A singer and composer who is serious about his art.
Her Father – A patient and loving father. Dead, living in the land of the dead. A good teacher.
A Nasty Interesting Man/Lord of Underworld – The Nasty and Interesting Man is conniving and smooth. The Lord of the Underworld is an ornery, childish babyman who loves having power.
Stone Chorus – a group of vapid, human-adjacent dolls. Comical at parts. Unfeeling overall.
Note about Stone Chorus/Understudy: Some of the Stones will be double-cast as Stone/Understudy. This means actors will perform as a Stone in some shows in addition to covering one of the principal roles (Eurydice, Orpheus, Father, Lord of the Underworld). This is an excellent opportunity for a performer interested in developing their acting and movement skills. Rehearsal time in Understudy Role and Performance time as a Stone are guaranteed.
A Note On Theatrical Intimacy:
Theatrical intimacy is any action on stage where the given circumstances of the scene or the overall production calls for touch, both physical and imaginative, or moments between actors of simulated sexuality or sexual violence.
GREAT has been learning from Intimacy Directors & Coordinators (IDC) to improve processes and incorporate safer practices for theatrical intimacy in our rehearsals.
All scenes with intimacy follow a specific set of staging and rehearsal protocols rooted in consent and safety for the actors.
